North Valley Chorale Opens Season with "An American Tribute" (Phoenix, Arizona - November 21, 2009) The Prayer of the Children Thanks Be to God God Bless the USA! The North Valley Chorale presented the opening concert for its first full season on Saturday, November 21st, 7:00 pm at Steele Memorial Hall in Phoenix. “An American Tribute” was a selection of patriotic songs in a tribute to our troops and veterans combined with some of the treasured and traditional songs that celebrate our country at this time of Thanksgiving. An appreciative audience filled the hall with singing and applause. The videos above were posted to YouTube by an audience member. Although they are not "professional" videos, they certainly capture the sound and spirit of the evening. The Chorale’s mission includes social outreach and giving back to the community. On Sunday, November 8th, they gave a special performance of their concert at the Arizona State Veteran’s Home. The choir gathered contributions to make donations to the veterans, including a check for $300. “We believe that sharing our gifts and giving back to the community is an important part of what our choir is all about” shares Kelly Johnson, board member and Social Outreach Coordinator. The Chorale has a program that has included donating a percentage of ticket sales to St. Vincent de Paul, donating items to inner city schools, singing at Christmas time for the UMOM New Day Shelter and singing at Glendale Glitters. This year's season will also include two more concerts in 2010 - Saturday, February 13th “From Broadway, With Love”, and Sunday, May 2nd “Viva Vivaldi” with the Four Seasons Orchestra.
